Post subject: Paragraph spacing is broken (WoW theme)  PostPosted: May 04, 2005 - 12:24 AM

Take a look at the "Letter to Guild Members" post. Notice how there's no paragraph spacing? You could put 10 <p> or <br> between each line and it still won't space it far enough.

I really don't like how it's clustered together like that, how do I go about increasing the space between lines?

All I see are <p> no <br /> in the text.
Here is the view source of that news article.

Code:
                   I wanted to write a vision statement about where I think the guild should be headed in the coming months so we would all be on the same page with our goals. The guild has continued to grow over the previous months and has reached proportions previously unimagined by many of the officers.  As the guild evolves new opportunities in gameplay arise that can benefit us all if we utilize our numbers and resources to capitalize on them.
<p><p><p>
1. Continued growth and sucession is important.  The ability to recruit all levels of players ensures that we have a continuous flow of new players, friends, thoughts and ideas.  In the longrun, 40+ and 60 only guilds are limiting themselves to the possible point of extinction.  So let's keep our membership fresh.

<p>
2.  Development of culture-it is a common principle in psychology that people in large groups lose their identity.  In short, we need to make sure that new members know the rules and goals of the guild, the history, the ideal set that Player Killers was founded on.  For instance, Player Kilers need to know how to fight and command troops in battle, stealthfully kill alliance, understand what a Player Killer is etc.

<p>
     Some people say they don't like large guilds but I think large guilds are better.  The more players you come in contact with the more networking transpires and the endgame becomes better.  I want our large guild to be a composite of many small groups of players working together to level and assist each other.  This has already become a norm in our guild in game. Honestly, with all the resources to be had, I don't know why anyone would want to leave P.K. at this point.  So even though we are large lets keep it personal.

<P>
We are also becoming more diverse in ethnicity, age, and gender.  I want to point out that even though we may be different in those aspects we are all Horde and beyond that we are all Player Killers.  So don't be hating.

<p>
Take action!!
The larger we get the more important it is that subculture develops.  People can not wait on the guildmaster to form a raid or set a schedule.  Everyone needs to get involved, take on a role that assists the guild, and pursue it.  (Please don't cross schedule on major guild events like raids in message of the day)

<p>
3.  Increase our interest set-One of the major weaknesses I have found with guilds on the server is that they tend to have one major focus only.  For example they only pursue items or they only fight.  I want to develop leaders who help us pursue all aspects of gameplay from crafting to warfare or whatever so we meet all players interests (as long as they fight lol).  We have yet to tap the Onyxia Lair or conquer Molten Core as a guild......if you are bored at 60 you need to send me a tell.  There is a ton of endgame awaiting us..........lets pursue it.

<p>
4.  Innovation-I think we have been on the cutting edge with some game tactics and we need to continue to develop and implement new ideas.  For instance, the banking system Silixys has put together was a formulation of several of our ideas is nothing short of unprecedented.  I always enjoy the surprise when new guildies say "You have a bank??!!!".  Drevlin's double elimination tournaments held outside Jagged Swine farm are nothing short of pure entertainment and pvp training.  How many other guilds do you see doing these things?

<p>

     Ok what was my purpose of writing all those things?  Because I know Player Killers will take those thoughts and ideas and run with em!  I spent these 30 minutes so that I we will all get hours more endgame as our guild works toward common goals.

<p>
By the way, I am looking to fill several more officer positions within the guild.  Right now we need an instance organizer, a news reporter to put info about us on the WOW forums, Master of elite instances and strategist, cross-pollination to other servers officer etc.  If you are interested send me a tell.

<p>

Enjoy the game, enjoy the guild.
<p>

Humbly, Daone

A combo <p><br> works perfectly.

Something else I noticed while browsing the site in IE (I personally use Firefox), but the table graphics aren't aligned properly in IE, any idea what would cause that?

Browser probem on my end perhaps if you're not seeing it.

The fix for IE worked, but with that fixed, another problem popped up.

Want to thank you first of all for this rock-solid support, I really appreciate it.

After uploading the fixed files, there are now large paragraph spaces before the posts actually begin...but not on all posts. On the main page you'll see for example on "Website addition" and "Some new friends" that the big space is there. But on "Raid on Theramore" and "Deathstrike Dagger" they're not. I opened up the stories and they are setup the same as far as Topic & Category settings go.

Also, the main page and the forums page are different sizes. Open the forums page then press back and you'll see what I mean.

I think I see the problem,
Open forums.html and look for the link to the forums.css file
Change the path from themes/wow/forums/forums.css to themes/WoW/forums/forums.css

Did you rename the theme directory? It was wow in the zip and now it is WoW on your site?

I did. What other files would I have to change to that path on?

Is that what would be causing the problem with the spacing on the main page also?

That should be the only thing affected by the path.

Aside from the forums thing, the huge indents on the main page are quite annoying. That started right after I uploaded the updated wow them files.

I have no idea what is causing those indents.
I will download the page from your site and take a look.

Ok in the forums.css in themes/WoW/forums/

Edit the body tag and set the margin to 0px, it is currrently set to 8px somehow.

Now I will look into the text indents.
