I was wondering if it was ok to create a theme for a Simple Machines Forum to match your free blue metal theme. And if so, Maybe someone can help me.
Getting the style sheets working is easy, I would mainly need help with the borders. |

What exactly are you asking?
You are allowed to modify the free themes, you just can't redistrubute them. |

Before I got started I wanted to make sure it was ok. As for the distribution I'm only make'n for boards I own. (right now I own 3 but will probably be used on 2 of them) And I would gladly give you a copy here if wanted for whatever purposes. (keep for archives or if you wish to distribut with you steel theme for anyone who might be use'n this type of forum)
As for how its done most everything is done through style sheets. Probably easier to pull up one of my boards as I talk through some of it.

From the style sheet I can adjust any color, style, font, border, and background images of everything seen. Here's a link to see the style sheet of the above forum. Click Here
Buttons and other images are linked from the page templates. So long as they are uploaded in the correct folder with correct name they will work. Finding buttons to match will be easy. And if not I can probably find someone to make what is needed.
What I had in mind was to re organize the top part of the page to make use of the header from the bluemetal theme. Remove the key stats box, and either combine personal info and news or split it to the sides, and use the border images here as on the nuke theme.
The middle section I would use some background images in a few areas, and use a border of about 3 px in an outset border style. To create the image box'd border might not be practical in regards to speed. But something I would like to try last. (instead of the outset border)
The bottom section that has the info center would have the border as with the nuke theme, or the box at the top.
The top and bottom can both be modified form one template page. This is the only part I might have difficulty since it is set to use a percentage of the page and not a set width. But I think that if I just repeat a small image connecting the corners it should work. |

I don't have any problem with you doing that with the theme.
Just if you want to redistribute it make sure the credits are given ok? |

Due to size of some things I was unable to do everything I wanted without force'n users to scroll down forever And had to take some rather large liberties with the graphics. Here's a link to an almost finished theme. Once I've done everything I can I can send you the needed files for it to add to your bluemetal download if you want it.
I'm going to try and add a left/right column along the forum sides to connect the top and bottom. It's the only thing left give'n me major problems.
