I got this to work ages ago on another site, but can't for the life of me figure it out now 
Using the PT-EQ2PlatNew theme, how on earth do I get the sommaire navigation to show up on the left hand side instead of the standard navigation?
Oh, how I hate AutoTheme with a passion - it complicates things way too much. |

| There is a duplicate block named Navigation in default Platinum installs, delete the inactive one. |
