Custom Theme Support - changing the banner Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 12:51 AM Post subject: changing the banner
Hello,
we just bought a custom theme and I am trying to figure out how to get the banner changed from Chosen Lords to our guild name. I have looked through out the folder for a blank jpg or psd file and have not found anything.
Any help would be appreciated.mars - Aug 13, 2006 - 01:09 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
There is a folder in the zip called PSD DO NOT UPLOAD
In there is the PSD for the header.Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 01:10 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
I found that one and made the banner i wanted but when I try to upload it, the banner on my site comes out all wonkymars - Aug 13, 2006 - 01:12 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
When you edit it, do a File-Save for Web, choose HTML and IMAGES as the type.
Then upload the images that are created from that.Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 01:13 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
i'll try that...
and yes...wonky *is* the technical term :pmars - Aug 13, 2006 - 01:14 AM Post subject: RE: changing the bannerFaloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 01:32 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner

No..
Do the file save for web, html and images
Then the images that GET CREATED upload to themes/wowalliance2/imagesFaloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 02:07 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
the only thing that gets created is a psd file and an alliance2.html fileFaloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 02:20 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
when i saved the file for web, html and images, I get a folder called images with alliance2.jpg file in it and alliance2.html file.mars - Aug 13, 2006 - 03:39 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
Did you remove the slices from the PSD?Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 04:55 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
no, i didn't. how does one do that?
when I right click on the current banner and save it shows just a portion of the banner. when I use the psd file, it's the full banner with the side and top pictures toomars - Aug 13, 2006 - 04:19 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
Ok here are the steps.
1) Open the PSD
2) Change the text to what you want.
3) Do File Save for Web
4) Check the settings
5) Check The final settings
6) Go to where you saved the file, go into the images subdirectory.
7) Upload those images to themes/wowalliance2/imagesFaloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 04:43 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
Thanks for the info...i really appreciate it.
When I get to the point to check the settings, I see 1 slice vs many that are shown in the screen shot above. I'm not sure what to do at this point.Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 04:55 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
ah ha!
i think i figured it out.Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 05:10 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
nevermind. I still only see one slice and when I save it, all i get is a jpg file and a html filemars - Aug 13, 2006 - 05:24 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
Send me an email and I'll send you a new PSD file.Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 05:52 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
email sent. thanks againFaloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 09:18 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
it seems that no matter what I do, I still only get the same thing...a psd file and a html file. When I do the save as web and check the slices, I still see only one...even when I don't make any changes whatsoever.Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 09:37 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
scratch that. I get still only see the 1 slice, a html file and a jpg but only one and it's the entire banner.mars - Aug 13, 2006 - 10:18 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
What version of Photoshop are you using?Faloria - Aug 13, 2006 - 10:36 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
7.0mars - Aug 13, 2006 - 10:38 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
That could be the problem, my PSD's are PS CS2
Check your email.Faloria - Aug 14, 2006 - 01:37 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
got it and it looks beautimous. Thanks a bunch.Shotokan - Sep 04, 2008 - 05:30 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
I am trying to do the same for the DMcod4 theme and it generates the HTML and also a jpg darkmetal.jpg file with size 981 x 250.
The problem is the 3 html files theme, them2 and forums try to open a file called darkmetal_02.jpg with 876 x 187 of size. In the images directory there is a darkmetal.jpg with his size which is almost the same image but without the buttoms.
Now when i do the save for web and choose HTML adn Image i create a new image with the buttoms part and it does not fit well on the page. So iguess my question is how can i use that PSD file you send but generate only the portion without the buttons so i cna make it 876 x 187 which is what the html codes are asking for?mars - Sep 04, 2008 - 11:03 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
When you choose HTML and ALL SLICES it creates the proper images with the proper sizes.Shotokan - Sep 05, 2008 - 02:22 AM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
In fact it creates only one HTML and one JPG file... nothing more and this JPG file is like i said all together background, buttons, logo, etc... and when created it does not fit well.
PS: Also the Army and ft50 Normal fonts are also missing on the package.mars - Sep 05, 2008 - 02:43 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
What version of Photoshop are you using?Shotokan - Sep 06, 2008 - 04:27 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
7.0 and i guess my problem is exactly like te one you helped his in this thread before.
All i got at the end is one jpg and one html.
Maybe i need to send you the PSD file again and you work it for me like you did for him.mars - Sep 06, 2008 - 04:30 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
That would be the issue.
I am using CS2 and can only save back to 11 for compatibility.
Do you want me to send you a blank JPG file for the text part of the header?Shotokan - Sep 06, 2008 - 04:53 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
No don't worry. I used one JPG file called (darkmetal_02.jpg) that was on the package and it worked well.
But i need your help on this other thread to fix the spacing when opening the modules.

Can you post a link to the site?Shotokan - Sep 06, 2008 - 08:07 PM Post subject: RE: changing the bannerhttp://www.n00bfest.com
Go to the main menu at the left side and click on "Source Stats Only" and you see what i am talking about.mars - Sep 06, 2008 - 09:59 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
Edit theme2.html and look for
<td valign="top"><!-- [modules] --></td>
Change it to
<td valign="top" width="100%"><!-- [modules] --></td>Shotokan - Sep 06, 2008 - 10:11 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
OK now it worked.
But my pages are still looking ugly on this fixed size theme. I was wondering to change the table size from fixed 981 to 100% bu then i would have to redo the entire header and logos right?mars - Sep 06, 2008 - 10:27 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
Yes the header and nav bar would have to be redone.Shotokan - Sep 06, 2008 - 10:30 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner .. oK.mars - Sep 06, 2008 - 10:33 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
I have a full width version of CoD4 that I am still testing out, if you want to test it just shoot me an email and I will replace the fixed width with the full width.
Just please be sure to send me any fixes you make on it, that will be the trade Shotokan - Sep 13, 2008 - 09:56 PM Post subject: RE: changing the banner
